about

Improvised tone poem with improvised single pass overlays.

This fall, I lost all of my works in progress. The sudden loss of so much work, effort and expression sent me spiraling and made it very difficult for me to work again. Slowly, through this winter, I began to create again.
This work is pulled from a poem I wrote about the watery ecstasy of gender euphoria. It's very existence frames around itself a very dense and beleaguering darkness. Dysphoria gets talked about a lot in the trans community, while euphoria feels hard to share and talk about. As if our moments of happiness are almost inappropriate to share when others are suffering. I also think, in its very nature, gender euphoria is not an easy feeling to capture through conversation. It is so intimate and so uniquely paired to the person experiencing it. So I've attempted through words to share shards of my experience of feeling. And now, I have translated those words into sound.

with such,
swells a light
& soft,
the petal of allflower,
its bones pressed in body
pulls frail breath
& saws
a thinning skin
to break before a cry
